1→2
Double them with the Seed Extractor
Put crops in a Seed Extractor and every 40 seconds it uses one to make 2 seeds.
Robot arms return no seeds
Harvesting with a farming robot arm never gives seeds back.
Ways to Get More Seeds
| Method | Result |
|---|---|
| Harvest by hand | 75% chance to get 1 seed back |
| Talent "Grateful gardener" | Raises the chance; 5 points add +25%, so you always get 1 back |
| Seed Extractor | 1 crop → 2 seeds (every 40 s, needs power) |
The best method is to always get a seed back with Grateful gardener, then put spare crops in the Seed Extractor. Each crop becomes 2 seeds, so you can double the size of your field.
How to Use the Seed Extractor
- Place the Seed Extractor and connect power.
- Put in harvested crops. Every 40 seconds it uses one and outputs 2 seeds of that crop.
- Topping up the same crop keeps the current cycle going; swapping in a different crop starts the 40 seconds over.
- If the power is cut, it simply pauses and carries on when power is back.
A golden crop gives 2 seeds plus 1 gold ore (golden crops).
Why You Are Running Out of Seeds
- You harvest with robot arms: they return no seeds. Make up for it with the Seed Extractor (farm automation).
- You cook the whole harvest: set aside seeds for the next planting first.
- Farm animals eat your crops: plant-eating animals such as cows and goats eat growing plants. Keep fields and animal pens apart.
Getting Your First Seeds
Harvesting wild plants sometimes gives seeds (not every time without Gardening talents). Where to find each seed is on its item page, linked from the crops list.
All chances, times and amounts on this page are read from the game files of Core Keeper 1.3.0.6 (each plant's harvest drop, the Gardening talent values, the Seed Extractor's settings, the robot arm's harvesting code and what farm animals eat). How the extractor reacts to topping up, swapping crops and power cuts is from the Core Keeper Wiki (Fandom) page “Seed Extractor” (game 1.3.0.6, CC BY-SA 3.0).
Unless a note on the page says otherwise, numbers are read from the game files of Core Keeper 1.3.0.6 (prefabs, configuration files, drop tables and the game's program) and calculated by this site, including upgraded (per-level) values, sell prices and mana costs.
