In-game description
How Melee combat XP is gained
You gain XP when your melee weapon attacks hit an enemy. 2.5 × the weapon's attack interval (seconds) per hit, so about 2.5 XP per second with any weapon.
Tips for leveling Melee combat efficiently
- You do not need to finish enemies off: every hit that lands gives XP. A swing counts once no matter how many enemies it hits.
- Training Dummies and burning damage give no XP.
- Early on, keep fighting in an area full of weak enemies.
XP needed to level up Melee combat
Total XP from level 0. Each level needs more XP than the one before it, so the last 25 levels take the longest. Every 5 levels give 1 talent point, and reaching level 100 gives 5 more (25 in total).
| Level | Total XP | Talent points |
|---|---|---|
| Lv.25 | 1,092 | 5 |
| Lv.50 | 3,367 | 10 |
| Lv.75 | 8,112 | 15 |
| Lv.100 | 18,007 | 25 |

Melee combat talents
Spend the talent points you get from leveling up on these talents. Each effect is "value per point × points spent" (values from the talent data in the game's configuration files). You cannot fill every talent, but you can reset the points for 200 Ancient Coins and spend them again.
| Talent | Effect (per point) |
|---|---|
| Quick strikes | +2% melee attack speed |
| Building anger | Gain 2% melee damage every time an enemy is hit, stacks up to 2 times |
| Fast and furious | +2% chance on melee hit to increase melee attack speed by 50% for a short duration |
| Heavy swings | +3% chance to knockback on melee hit |
| Stubborn fighter | Gain 30% melee damage when hitting the same target successively |
| Taking a step back | +4% chance on melee hit to increase range damage by 30% |
| Seething blade | 10% chance on melee hit to restore 1% health |
| Strength of the Ancients | +4% damage against bosses |
