Summary

How to get golden crops

  1. 3%

    3% chance when planted

Seeds planted by a player have a 3% chance to become golden crops. It is decided at planting time, so taking the talent afterwards does not change crops already planted.

  2. Up to 18%

    Raise it with Expert gardener

The Gardening talent "Expert gardener" adds +3% per point (18% at 5 points). Crops planted by a farming robot arm stay at 3%.

  3. Stronger dishes

Each golden crop is linked to the rare version of its dish (effects ×1.25).

How to Grow Golden Crops

  1. Take Expert gardener: a Gardening skill talent. Each point adds +3% (6–18% for 1–5 points).
  2. Plant the seeds by hand: whether a crop turns golden is decided at planting. Planting with a robot arm stays at 3%.
  3. Grow and harvest: the growth timers in the game data add up to 10 minutes (120 s as a seed, then two stages of 240 s as a plant). Golden crops grow the same way.

In multiplayer, the chance uses the talents of the player who planted the seed.

What Golden Crops Are For

  • Cooking: golden crops are linked to the rare version of their dish (effects ×1.25), and a dish made only from golden crops gets another ×1.15. In practice, one golden crop in the Cooking Pot is enough for a rare dish. The Cooking talent "Master chef" only affects extra dishes (how cooking works).
  • Seed Extractor: putting in a golden crop gives 2 seeds and 1 Gold Ore (the crop is used up).

Chances, timers and the Seed Extractor output are read from the game files of Core Keeper 1.3.0.6 (the game's program, Conf/Talents and the crop and seed prefabs). That one golden crop makes the dish rare is also stated on the Core Keeper Wiki (Fandom) page Cooking (CC BY-SA 3.0).

Unless a note on the page says otherwise, numbers are read from the game files of Core Keeper 1.3.0.6 (prefabs, configuration files, drop tables and the game's program) and calculated by this site, including upgraded (per-level) values, sell prices and mana costs. Names and descriptions are the game's official English text. Only reinforcing materials, minion and pet attacks and some food values are based on the Core Keeper Wiki (Fandom) data (CC BY-SA 3.0).
