SCANNERS

Core Keeper Boss Scanners: Full List and How to Use Them

Every boss scanner, which boss it reveals on the map, where to get it and how scanning works.

Data: the game files (version 1.3.0.6)

Summary

What does a scanner do?

  1. Shows a boss on your map

Each scanner "scans the world" for one boss (game text) and reveals that boss's marker on your map (the game's patch notes call these "scannable map markers"). Use it when you cannot find the boss.

  2. Used up only on success

The item description says it is "Consumed on successful scan." A scan that does not succeed does not use it up.

  3. Scan again after a kill

For most bosses, the scanner has to be used again after the boss is defeated if you want its marker back.

How to use a scanner

  1. Put the scanner on your hotbar, select it and use it.
  2. If the scan succeeds, the scanner is used up. Check your map for the boss's location.
  3. If there is nothing to find, your character says "Nothing was found" and you keep the scanner.
  4. Head toward the marker on the map (how to use the map).

Most scanners need to be used again after you defeat their boss. For the order to fight bosses, see boss order.

Finding structures (scenes): echo maps

Scanners that reveal a specific structure instead of a boss are called echo maps (echo map types and how to use them).

Which boss each scanner finds is read from the scanner prefabs in the game files (Core Keeper 1.3.0.6). How scanners behave is taken from the game's own item descriptions, patch notes and the “Nothing was found” emote text. That most scanners must be used again after the boss is defeated is from the Core Keeper Wiki (Fandom) page “Scanners” (CC BY-SA 3.0).

Unless a note on the page says otherwise, numbers are read from the game files of Core Keeper 1.3.0.6 (prefabs, configuration files, drop tables and the game's program) and calculated by this site, including upgraded (per-level) values, sell prices and mana costs. Names and descriptions are the game's official English text. Only reinforcing materials, minion and pet attacks and some food values are based on the Core Keeper Wiki (Fandom) data (CC BY-SA 3.0).
