Data: the game files (version 1.3.0.6)

  1. Crops and Moorshrooms

Moolin, Bambuck and Drohmble. They eat any crop you grow.

  2. Bugs (live critters)

Strolly Poly, Orex and Dodo. They eat any live bug, such as Blackbugs.

  3. Kelp

Kelple. Animals will not eat the wrong food, even from a feeding tray.

How Feeding Works (How Many Meals for One Product?)

  • Each meal stores one portion: adults can store up to 4 meals and babies 1 meal. Animals you find already have 1 meal stored.
  • 2 meals make 1 product: when an adult has 2 or more meals stored, it produces one item every 10 minutes and uses up 2 meals.
  • Babies: a stored meal disappears after 20 minutes without producing anything, and then the baby can eat again. After 8 meals it becomes an adult.
  • Hunger level: talk to an animal to see how full it is.

How to Feed Farm Animals (Feeding Tray or by Hand)

  • Feeding tray: put food in a Feeding Tray and animals that can reach it will eat.
  • Dropped on the ground: they also eat food lying on the ground.
  • By hand: hold food they like and they come over and eat it.
  • Crops: they eat crops in your fields once fully grown. If you want to harvest yourself, keep fields and pens apart.

How to Supply Farm Animal Food Automatically

Moolin, Bambuck, Drohmble: mossy soil

Place Mossy Soil inside the pen and Moorshroom will grow on it and serve as food. Place 4 or more tiles in the same 16×16 chunk and leave room for mushrooms to grow.

Alternatively, put a Spike Trap on Fungal Soil so the mushrooms break and drop as soon as they grow. A Robot Arm and Conveyor Belt can carry them to the feeding tray.

Strolly Poly, Orex, Dodo: hardened sap

Place Hardened Sap inside the pen and bugs will come out to serve as food. Bugs only appear while a player is nearby, and they stop when too many are out (they start again as animals eat them). Don't place it near a cicada burrow (the sap gets used up).

A Critter Catcher loaded with crops also produces bugs (the kind depends on the biome and ground it is placed on). The Blackbugs that come out when you break wood also work.

Kelple: Sun Kelp

Sun Kelp grows in clusters in the rivers of Azeos' Wilderness, and you can dig it up with a shovel.
