In-game description
What is Hardened Sap? Features and uses
Hardened Sap is an uncommon item in Core Keeper (Placeables & furniture). It can be obtained from Nature Cicada, Large Nature (breakable object), Large Oasis Flower Vessel and 3 other sources. It is an ingredient in 1 recipe.
Hardened Sap key points (from the game data)
- Best source: Nature Cicada — 30.9% chance per kill.
- Sells to merchants for 40 Ancient Coins.
Calculated and summarized by this site from the game data (1.3.0.6).
Hardened Sap mechanics (checked against the game data)
- Hardened Sap summons the Floracada.
- It spawns a critter every 5 to 20 seconds.
- No more than 3 of its critters can be out at once.
Written by this site from values in the game files (1.3.0.6 prefabs and configuration files).
Hardened Sap notes
- It is also an ingredient of Corrupted Sap, which summons Nimruza, Queen of the Burrowed Sands, besides being used to summon the Floracada.
- Placed Hardened Sap supplies critters straight to fenced Strolly Polys, Dodos and Orex, so you can feed them without a Feeding Tray.
- When the animals eat the critters, room opens up under the limit around the sap.
- A player must be within 21 tiles of the spawn spot.
- Critters that players caught and released do not count toward the limit.
- The type of critter depends on the biome it is placed in.
- The block under it does not matter.
- In a sub-biome, it spawns the same critters as the main biome that sub-biome belongs to.
- The exception: on crystal blocks, it always spawns Shimmering Frontier critters, whatever the biome.
These notes cover behavior that the game files do not show directly. They are based on facts from the Core Keeper Wiki (Fandom) page "Hardened Sap" (CC BY-SA 3.0), rewritten in this site's own words.

| Caveling Gardener | Enemy drop | Azeos' Wilderness | 1 | 1.6% |

There are also sources whose in-game name has not been confirmed yet (Enemy drop: 1).
"Chance" is the chance to get at least one of this item per try (opening one chest, defeating one enemy, one catch). A "guaranteed group" is the group of a chest or boss from which exactly one item always drops; it does not mean this item always drops (the chance of it being picked from that group is shown in small text). Only items that always drop are marked "Guaranteed". Fishing means catches with a fishing rod, separate from enemy and boss drops. Calculated from the game's drop tables (Conf/Loot, 1.3.0.6) the same way the game rolls them.
