Gold Ore Boulder notes
- Mining it requires a Crude Drill or Drill on one face of the boulder, hooked up to a power source.
- Multiple drills can be placed around the boulder, each one speeding up output.
- A boulder has room for at most eight drills: two along each of its four sides.
- Drill type, drill count, layout and overlapping hits on a single boulder tile together set the rate.
- Each additional drill still adds ore, but the gain per drill shrinks as you add more.
- Powered drills make the boulder shake, with a clink on every hit.
- A mined-out boulder breaks and disappears.
- On the map, ore boulders show as solid 2×2 squares.
- Point a Crude Drill or Drill at the boulder and wire it to a generator if necessary.
- Get the drill running and producing ore at its back before you build anything to collect it.
- Check that both drilling and collection work before adding more drills.
- If the collection route is jammed, more drills will not help.
- The cap of eight is how many spots there are around a boulder.
- You do not need eight drills to start mining.
- More drills raise the boulder's output, but the gain shrinks with each one.
- The Furnace, Smelter Kiln and Fury Forge all make bars, but from different ores.
- Choose the smelter that fits the ore.
- Furnace: Copper Ore, Iron Ore and Tin Ore.
- Smelter Kiln: Gold Ore, Scarlet Ore and Octarine Ore.
- Fury Forge: Galaxite Ore, Solarite Ore, Pandorium Ore and Relucite Ore.
- The Robot Arm must face the right way to load the smelter.
- Smelters start automatically once they hold ore they can process.
- No ore appearing: check the power and that the drill points at the boulder.
- Do not judge a new rig after a few seconds; compare it with the drilling rate tables.
- Ore piling up behind the drill: check the belt direction, the Robot Arm's direction and power, and space at the destination.
- Ore reaches the smelter but is not processed: check that the smelter takes that ore.
- Each smelter accepts a different set of ores.
- More drills did not speed things up as much as hoped: returns diminish with each drill.
- Layout and overlapping hits also affect mining speed.
- Boulder vanished: it has been mined out.
- Move the mining setup to another boulder.
