The “Core Keeper Soundtrack” is sold on Steam ($7.99 in the US, released January 9, 2025).
Music changes by place and fight
Each biome, some smaller areas inside biomes, dungeons, your base and the boss fights have their own music.
The Core Keeper soundtrack
- Composer: Jonathan Geer (most of the music).
- Volume 1: 20 tracks that were already in the game before update 0.7.0.0.
- Volume 2: 22 tracks: the music added for 1.0 plus the earlier tracks left off Volume 1 (“King Slime” is on neither).
- Where to listen or buy: both volumes are on the major music streaming services, and Steam sells them together as the “Core Keeper Soundtrack” ($7.99 in the US; checked November 4, 2026).
When the music changes
The game has separate music sets for these situations (from the music types in the game's code):
- Biomes: each biome has its own music, and some areas inside biomes (such as meadows, oases and moss areas) have their own too.
- Dungeons and your base: dungeons such as the mold and city dungeons, and your home base, use separate music.
- Bosses: boss fights switch to boss music; some bosses (the Core Commander and S.A.H.A.B.A.R.) change music between phases.
- Story moments: the title screen, intro, outro and credits have their own music.
The music for smaller areas follows the terrain around you rather than the map. The Core Keeper Wiki lists these: meadow ground (in The Undergrounds or Azeos' Wilderness), moss ground (Forgotten Ruins), mold walls (Azeos' Wilderness), metropolis walls (The Sunken Sea), lava rock walls (The Desert of Beginnings), oasis and grass ground (The Desert of Beginnings) and industrial ground (Breaker's Reach). Floors, rugs, rails and walls on top hide the ground beneath them, so build an open patch of the right ground if you want that music at your base.
You can change the music volume with the “Music” setting in the settings menu.
Composer and soundtrack details are from the Steam store. The track count, the contents of the two volumes, streaming availability and the terrain that selects each area's music are from the Core Keeper Wiki (Fandom) page “Music” (track list, CC BY-SA 3.0); we did not use its tile counts, which do not match the game's code. The list of music situations is read from the game's code (Core Keeper 1.3.0.6).
Unless a note on the page says otherwise, numbers are read from the game files of Core Keeper 1.3.0.6 (prefabs, configuration files, drop tables and the game's program) and calculated by this site, including upgraded (per-level) values, sell prices and mana costs. Names and descriptions are the game's official English text. Only reinforcing materials, minion and pet attacks and some food values are based on the Core Keeper Wiki (Fandom) data (CC BY-SA 3.0).
