LAVA

Lava in Core Keeper: Where to Find It, Lava and Water, and Lava Fishing

Where lava is, what happens when it touches water, carrying it in a bucket, and fishing in lava.

Data: the game files (version 1.3.0.6)

Summary

How lava works

  1. Hardens when it touches water

Where lava and water meet, lava rock ground forms. With normal water the water hardens; with any other water the lava hardens.

  2. Carry it with a bucket

You can scoop lava with a Bucket and move it. Lava fish can be caught wherever you pour it.

  3. No boats on lava

Boats cannot be used on lava. Bridges can be built over it.

Where to find lava

Lava is found in the lava area of The Desert of Beginnings and in some scenes in that biome. It glows, so it is easy to spot even in the dark.

When lava touches water (lava rock ground)

  • Lava has a strength of 2. When it touches normal water (1), the water turns into lava rock ground.
  • When it touches acid, mold, shimmering, grimy or sea water, the lava turns into lava rock ground instead.
  • A bridge over lava is replaced by lava rock when the lava hardens.

For all liquid types and their strength, see water types.

Lava fishing

You can fish in lava and catch fish and items found only there. Only the Galaxite and Solarite fishing rods can cast into lava (fishing 240 needed). Bring lava home in a bucket and you can fish it at your base (how to build a fishing pond).

Lava blocks and lava walls

Blocks with "lava" in the name (Lava Rock Block, Lava Rock Ground, Molten Wall) and Lava Rock are different from liquid lava. Their durability is listed in the wall block list.
