How food and hunger work
100
Hunger goes up to 100
You start at 70/100. Moving drains 1 for every 20 tiles you travel (40 tiles in casual worlds); riding a minecart, boat, go-kart or farm animal does not.
75+
Well fed makes you stronger
At 75 or more, you get +5% damage and +5% max health.
<25
Starving makes you weaker
Below 25, your damage and max health go down (−25% at 0).
How Hunger Works
- Hunger meter: from 0 to 100. A new character starts at 70, and a character who dies and respawns is set back to 70.
- Drain: 1 for every 20 tiles you move (40 tiles in casual worlds). Each point of the Running talent "Endurance runner" makes the drain 5% slower. Being carried along by conveyor belts still counts as moving, but riding a minecart, boat, go-kart or saddled farm animal does not use up food (walking drains it again once you get off).
- Well fed (75 or more): +5% damage and +5% max health. Each point of the Cooking talent "Not so picky" lowers the threshold by 5, so at 5 points you are well fed from 50. Another Cooking talent makes the well-fed bonus 20% stronger per point.
- Starving (below 25): damage and max health go down by 1% for every point below 25, down to −25% at 0.

Cooking Makes Food Stronger
Cooking two ingredients together in the Cooking Pot changes their effects. See best food and how to cook for strong dishes and the food effects list for all effects.
Hunger values per food are read from the game files, and the hunger rules (drain distance, well-fed and starving thresholds and effects) from the game's code and talent configuration files (Core Keeper 1.3.0.6). The starting and respawn value of 70 and how conveyors and vehicles affect hunger are from the Core Keeper Wiki (Fandom) page “Foods” (game 1.3.0.6, CC BY-SA 3.0).
Unless a note on the page says otherwise, numbers are read from the game files of Core Keeper 1.3.0.6 (prefabs, configuration files, drop tables and the game's program) and calculated by this site, including upgraded (per-level) values, sell prices and mana costs. Names and descriptions are the game's official English text. Only reinforcing materials, minion and pet attacks and some food values are based on the Core Keeper Wiki (Fandom) data (CC BY-SA 3.0).
