What is Fire Grenade? Features and uses

Fire Grenade is an uncommon item in Core Keeper (Throwables). Its base level is 13, and it gives +100% chance to spawn napalm from explosions. It is crafted at the Laboratory Table from Blasting Dung ×1, Magma Slime ×2. It can be obtained from Oasis Chest, Geobot Patroller, Excavation (breakable object) and 2 other sources.

Fire Grenade key points (from the game data)

  • Cannot be upgraded at the Upgrade Forge.
  • Best source: Oasis Chest — 33.3% chance per roll.
  • Sells to merchants for 5 Ancient Coins.

Calculated and summarized by this site from the game data (1.3.0.6).

Fire Grenade mechanics (checked against the game data)

  • The Fire Grenade's explosion always spawns Napalm (100% chance).

Written by this site from values in the game files (1.3.0.6 prefabs and configuration files).

Fire Grenade notes

  • Its blast covers a 2-tile radius and always leaves Napalm.

These notes cover behavior that the game files do not show directly. They are based on facts from the Core Keeper Wiki (Fandom) page "Fire Grenade" (CC BY-SA 3.0), rewritten in this site's own words.

What you get from salvaging Fire Grenade (Salvage and Repair Station)

Fire Grenade can be salvaged. Salvaging it gives the following items.

For each material, the amount is "amount used to craft × 0.49 (lower when durability is down, 0.3 at 0 durability) × the item's multiplier", and a fraction is the chance of one more (2.4 means 2, with a 40% chance of 3). The range is from 0 durability to full durability (items without durability always count as full). Scrap parts are a fixed number set by the item level. All items that can be salvaged are listed in salvaging.

How to get Fire Grenade (Enemy drop, Chests & pedestals, Breakable objects)

Enemy drop (2) Chests & pedestals (1) Breakable objects (2)

SourceTypeBiomeAmountChance
Geobot Patroller Enemy drop Breaker's Reach 1–3 24.6%
Gold Scarab Enemy drop The Desert of Beginnings 1 12.9%
Cultist Chest Chests & pedestals The Desert of Beginnings 3–10 33.3%
Breaker's Reach crate Breakable objects Breaker's Reach 1 17.3%
Large Flower Vessel Breakable objects Azeos' Wilderness 1 6.2%

* "Breaker's Reach crate": provisional names. The in-game name has not been confirmed, so this site named the source after its internal name in the drop tables.

"Chance" is the chance to get at least one of this item per try (opening one chest, defeating one enemy, one catch). A "guaranteed group" is the group of a chest or boss from which exactly one item always drops; it does not mean this item always drops (the chance of it being picked from that group is shown in small text). Only items that always drop are marked "Guaranteed". Fishing means catches with a fishing rod, separate from enemy and boss drops. Calculated from the game's drop tables (Conf/Loot, 1.3.0.6) the same way the game rolls them.
