Tome of Breach notes

  • Its pickaxe minions fight nearby enemies in melee and, when ordered, dig blocks for you.
  • Upgrading the tome to level 12 or above lowers the reservation to 15.
  • Minions have no fixed lifetime; you can dismiss them yourself.
  • Before block damage reduction, each spirit pickaxe mines for 151 at tome level 5, scaling up to 1,522 at level 20.
  • If a move order stays blocked after 8 straight digs that fail to open a path, the pickaxe abandons the order.
  • If it cannot damage the wall at all, it gives up after the first try.
  • Giving a new move order resets that limit.

These notes cover behavior that the game files do not show directly. They are based on facts from the Core Keeper Wiki (Fandom) page "Tome of Breach" (CC BY-SA 3.0), rewritten in this site's own words.

What you get from salvaging Tome of Breach (Salvage and Repair Station)

Tome of Breach can be salvaged. Salvaging it gives the following items.

For each material, the amount is "amount used to craft × 0.49 (lower when durability is down, 0.3 at 0 durability) × the item's multiplier", and a fraction is the chance of one more (2.4 means 2, with a 40% chance of 3). The range is from 0 durability to full durability (items without durability always count as full). Scrap parts are a fixed number set by the item level. All items that can be salvaged are listed in salvaging.

How to get Tome of Breach (Boss drop, Enemy drop, Breakable objects)

Boss drop (1) Enemy drop (1) Breakable objects (1)

SourceTypeBiomeAmountChance
Ghorm the Devourer Boss drop The Clay Caves 1 18.6%8.2% from the guaranteed group, 2.4% per regular roll
Big Larva Enemy drop The Clay Caves 1 0.5%
Hive Growth Breakable objects Larva Hive 1 2.2%

"Chance" is the chance to get at least one of this item per try (opening one chest, defeating one enemy, one catch). A "guaranteed group" is the group of a chest or boss from which exactly one item always drops; it does not mean this item always drops (the chance of it being picked from that group is shown in small text). Only items that always drop are marked "Guaranteed". Fishing means catches with a fishing rod, separate from enemy and boss drops. Calculated from the game's drop tables (Conf/Loot, 1.3.0.6) the same way the game rolls them.
